Regular Season Round 9: Helios - Zlatorog 83-66

The most interesting game of round 9 was a derby match between two teams from Slovenia. The game took place in Domzale where twelfth ranked Helios won against visiting Zlatorog (1-8) 83-66. The game without a history. Helios led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The best player for the winners was Croatian power forward Drago Pasalic (208-84) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. American guard D.J. Gay (183-89, college: San Diego St.) chipped in 15 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Four Helios players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Grega Mali (197-84) who recorded 11 points and 7 rebounds and guard Danijel Vujasinovic (180-89) added 9 points and 5 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Helios (2-7) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Krka and Crvena Zvezda. Zlatorog at the other side stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Helios is looking forward to face higher ranked Radnicki K. (#10) in Kragujevac in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zlatorog will play at home against Hemofarm (#7) in Vrsac and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
