Regular Season Round 10: Crvena Zvezda - Maccabi T-A 76-83

Adriatic League top team - Israeli Maccabi T-A (9-0) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat thirteenth ranked Serbian Zvezda (2-8) in Beograd 83-76. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-17. But Zvezda won second period 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zvezda was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Greek center Sofoklis Schortsanitis (206-85) who helped to win the game recording 19 points. Guard Yogev Ohayon (189-87) contributed with 12 points and 5 assists for the winners. Five Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. Center Petar Popovic (211-79) replied with 17 points and 8 rebounds and guard Andreja Milutinovic (199-90) added 15 points in the effort for Zvezda. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Maccabi T-A have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending Israeli champion maintains first position with 9-0 record. Zvezda lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with eight games lost. Maccabi T-A will face KK Zagreb CO (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Zvezda will play against Cibona (#6) in Zagreb.
