Regular Season Round 11: Krka - Helios 84-64

One of the most interesting games of round 11 was a derby match between two teams from Slovenia. The game took place in Novo Mesto where thirteenth ranked Krka outleveled visiting Helios (2-9) 84-64. The game without a history. Krka led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Helios' 24. They outrebounded Helios 42-25 including 17 on the offensive glass. Krka brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Helios were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for Jamaican center Jerome Jordan (213-86, college: Tulsa) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Power forward Smiljan Pavic (210-80) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winning side. Guard Klemen Prepelic (191-92) came up with 22 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Bosnian forward Dejan Jeftic (200-89) added 9 points respectively for Helios in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending Slovenian champion (3-8) moved-up to eleventh place. Helios at the other side keep the twelfth position with nine games lost. They share it with Crvena Zvezda and Zlatorog. Krka will play against higher ranked Radnicki K. (#8) in Kragujevac in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Helios will play on the road against the league's leader Maccabi T-A (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
