The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Israeli Maccabi T-A (9-1) on the court of seventh ranked Croatian KK Zagreb CO on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by KK Zagreb CO 81-74. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Maccabi T-A. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-19. But Maccabi T-A won second period 19-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when KK Zagreb CO won last quarter 23-17. They made 27-of-32 free shots (84.4 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. 27 personal fouls committed by Maccabi T-A helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for forward Krunoslav Simon (197-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Mario Kasun (213-80) helped adding 12 points and 5 rebounds. American power forward Richard Hendrix (203-86, college: Alabama) responded with 10 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import swingman Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) scored 12 points. Maccabi T-A's coach David Blatt rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending Croatian champion maintains seventh place with 6-5 record. Defending Israeli champion Maccabi T-A still keeps top position with one game lost. KK Zagreb CO's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Zagreb Cibona.
