Regular Season Round 14: Cibona - Radnicki KG 81-87

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Zagreb where 7th ranked Croatian Cibona (7-7) was defeated by eighth ranked Serbian Radnicki K. (7-7) 87-81 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-15. But Cibona won second period 22-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Radnicki K. won last quarter 26-22. They made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. Cibona was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Mike Scott (203-86, college: Kent St.) scored 31 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center David Simon (207-82, college: IPFW) chipped in 26 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) during the contest. Guard Davor Kus (191-78, agency: Interperformances) responded with 19 points and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and forward Marin Rozic (201-83) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Cibona players scored in double figures. Radnicki K. moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Cibona. Cibona lost third consecutive game. Radnicki K. will face HKK Siroki WWin (#7) in Siroki Brijeg in the next round.
