Regular Season Round 15: Krka - Cibona 77-86
Date: January 10, 2012
Rather expected game in Novo Mesto where 11th ranked Slovenian Krka (4-11) was defeated by eighth ranked Croatian Cibona (8-7) 86-77. The guests were already 13 points ahead at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 30-24 last quarter charge of Krka cut the lead to 86-77 at the end of the game. Cibona made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American-Lebanese swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory with 22 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Marin Rozic (201-83) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Zoran Dragic (196-89) answered with 11 points and 7 rebounds and forward Jure Balazic (204-80) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Krka. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Krka's coach Aleksandar Sekulic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cibona moved-up to sixth place, which they share with KK Zagreb CO. Defending Slovenian champion Krka keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Hemofarm. Cibona will play against league's leader Maccabi T-A in Tel-Aviv in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Krka will play on the road against HKK Siroki WWin (#9) in Siroki Brijeg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
