Seventh-ranked Croatian Cibona (8-8) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A (15-1) in Zagreb. The visitors from Tel-Aviv managed to secure only six-point victory 91-85. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-16. But Cibona won third quarter 25-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Cibona used huge pressure winning it 18-11 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 6-12. It was a great shooting night for Maccabi T-A especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. 28 personal fouls committed by Cibona helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) fired 19 points for the winners. The other American import swingman Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) chipped in 16 points. Maccabi T-A's coach David Blatt allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Marin Rozic (201-83) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and American-Lebanese swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Court Side) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Cibona players scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending Israeli champion maintains first position with 15-1 record. Cibona at the other side dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. Maccabi T-A's next round opponent will be HKK Siroki WWin (#7) in Siroki Brijeg where they are favorite. Cibona will play at home against Zlatorog in Lasko.
