Regular Season Round 16: Un.Olimpija - Crvena Zvezda 74-73

Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Serbian Zvezda (5-11) was edged by fifth ranked Slovenian Union Olimpija (10-6) in Ljubljana 74-73 on Sunday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Zvezda was plagued by 33 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Montenegrin forward Vladimir Dasic (206-88, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 rebounds. Finnish point guard Sasu Salin (190-91) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Center Petar Popovic (211-79) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and guard Bojan Popovic (191-83) added 6 points and 4 assists in the effort for Zvezda. Zvezda's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Union Olimpija maintains fifth position with 10-6 record. Loser Zvezda keeps the tenth place with 11 games lost. Union Olimpija will face KK Zagreb CO (#8) on the road in the next round. Zvezda will play against the league's second-placed Cedevita in Zagreb.
