One of the most interesting games of round 18 was a derby match between two teams from Slovenia. The game took place in Ljubljana where twelfth ranked Helios won against host Union Olimpija (10-7) 92-83. Union Olimpija was ahead by 8 points after three quarters before a 28-20 charge of Helios, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 15-6. Helios forced 19 Union Olimpija turnovers. Croatian power forward Drago Pasalic (208-84) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard D.J. Gay (183-89, college: San Diego St.) supported him with 28 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Four Helios players scored in double figures. Even 23 points and 4 assists by Montenegrin forward Vladimir Dasic (206-88, agency: Beo Basket) did not help to save the game for Union Olimpija. Montenegrin guard Goran Jeretin (192-79, agency: Beo Basket) added 13 points and 7 assists. Helios (5-12) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Hemofarm. Union Olimpija at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Helios will play against league's second-placed Cedevita in Zagreb in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Union Olimpija will play on the road against Radnicki K. in Kragujevac and hopes to get back on the winning track.
