Regular Season Round 21: Crvena Zvezda - KK Zagreb 87-74

There was a small surprise in Beograd where tenth ranked Serbian Zvezda (9-12) defeated 7th ranked Croatian KK Zagreb CO (11-10) 87-74 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Zvezda. KK Zagreb CO was better in third quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was power forward Sava Lesic (205-88) who scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Omar Thomas (197-82, college: UTEP) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Zvezda players scored in double figures. Zvezda's coach Svetislav Pesic used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was center Mario Kasun (213-80) who recorded a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds and Bosnian-Croatian guard Damir Mulaomerovic (195-74, agency: FCM) added 12 points and 7 assists respectively. Zvezda maintains tenth place with 9-12 record. Defending Croatian champion KK Zagreb CO dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. Zvezda will face Krka (#12) in Novo Mesto in the next round.
