There was a small surprise in Kragujevac where ninth ranked Serbian Radnicki K. (10-10) won against 6th ranked Slovenian Union Olimpija (11-10) 88-76 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-76. Radnicki K. dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Union Olimpija's 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American center David Simon (207-82, college: IPFW) who scored 31 points and 5 blocks. His fellow American import forward Mike Scott (203-86, college: Kent St.) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Jan Mocnik (174-87, agency: World Sport Agency) who recorded 24 points and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American forward Deon Thompson (203-88, college: N.Carolina) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Union Olimpija's coach Saso Filipovski rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Radnicki K. maintains ninth place with 10-10 record. Union Olimpija lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with ten games lost. Radnicki K. will face higher ranked KK Zagreb CO (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
