There was a minor upset in Siroki Brijeg where 5th ranked Bosnian HKK Siroki WWin (13-11) was defeated by seventh ranked Slovenian Union Olimpija (12-11) 71-64 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 27-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Union Olimpija dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to HKK Siroki WWin's 28. Union Olimpija forced 24 HKK Siroki WWin turnovers. HKK Siroki WWin was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American forward Deon Thompson (203-88, college: N.Carolina) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points. Montenegrin forward Vladimir Dasic (206-88, agency: Beo Basket) helped adding 13 points and 6 rebounds. Croatian point guard Jakov Vladovic (186-83) responded with 17 points and 6 assists and Croatian guard Fran Pilepic (192-89) scored 16 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Union Olimpija moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Cibona. Defending Bosnian champion HKK Siroki WWin keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Union Olimpija will face higher ranked Partizan (#3) in Beograd in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. HKK Siroki WWin will play at home against the league's second-placed Cedevita in Zagreb.
