Regular Season Round 24: Helios - Krka 82-92

The most interesting game of round 24 was a derby match between two teams from Slovenia. The game took place in Domzale where thirteenth ranked Krka won against host Helios (7-17) 92-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Helios. Helios were trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 26-15 charge of Krka, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Krka especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 68.8 percentage. 24 personal fouls committed by Helios helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Jure Balazic (204-80) who scored 17 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Power forward Smiljan Pavic (210-80) chipped in 7 points and 8 rebounds. Four Krka players scored in double figures. Krka's coach Aleksandar Sekulic used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Klemen Prepelic (191-92) who recorded 32 points and Croatian forward Drazen Bubnic (205-86) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Defending Slovenian champion moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with defeated Helios. Krka is looking forward to face higher ranked Radnicki K. (#7) in Kragujevac in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Helios will play at home against the league's leader Maccabi T-A (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
