Important game to mention about took place in Zadar. Fourteenth ranked Croatian KK Zadar (3-5) saved a 1-point derby victory at home edging top-ranked Bosnian Igokea (6-2) 61-60 on Saturday evening. The hosts were ahead by 2 points but lost the second period ending it with a 4-point deficit before their 24-19 run, which allowed them to win the game. KK Zadar dominated on the defensive end, holding Igokea to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Igokea 44-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. Igokea was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Franko Kastropil (212-84) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. American Romeo Travis (201-84, college: Akron) contributed with 7 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American guard Clifford Hammonds (191-85, college: Clemson) replied with 23 points and Montenegrin power forward Milos Komatina (205-84) added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Igokea. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. KK Zadar moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Siroki WWin and KK Split. Igokea at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Partizan. KK Zadar will play against higher ranked Buducnost (#5) in Podgorica in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Igokea will play at home against MZT Skopje (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
