Regular Season Round 5: Triglav - Medvescak 66-76

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Slovenian Triglav (3-2) in Kranj on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Croatian ZKK Medvescak (3-2) 76-66. It was a key game for the second position in Group A. The game was mostly controlled by ZKK Medvescak. Triglav managed to win fourth quarter 25-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Triglav 39-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. Center Ivana Tikvic (189-94) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and Anja Majstorovic (184-94) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four ZKK Medvescak players scored in double figures. Maja Jakobcic (187-97) responded with 29 points and swingman Ziva Zdolsek (178-89) scored 9 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Triglav's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. ZKK Medvescak have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with Triglav and Srbobran. ZKK Medvescak is looking forward to face league's leader Partizan in Beograd in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Triglav will play on the road against Srbobran Reahem and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
