Regular Season Round 6: Levski Sofia - Krka 68-70
Date: November 1, 2014
A very interesting game took place in Sofia. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 13th ranked Bulgarian Levski Sofia (1-5) to third ranked Slovenian Krka (5-1) 70-68 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It looked good early as Levski Sofia took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Krka had a 16-13 second period charge getting the lead and Levski Sofia was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-70. American point guard Malcolm Armstead (183-89, college: Wichita St., agency: Beo Basket) notched 19 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import power forward Christopher Booker (208-81, college: Purdue) supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Krka players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 9 rebounds by Hristo Zahariev (199-90) did not help to save the game for Levski Sofia. Serbian power forward Miljan Pupovic (210-83) added 15 points and 8 rebounds. Levski Sofia's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending Slovenian champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Buducnost. Levski Sofia lost fourth consecutive game. Defending Bulgarian champion keeps the thirteenth position with five games lost. Krka's next round opponent will be Cibona (#9) in Zagreb and are hoping to win another game. Levski Sofia will play on the road against Cedevita (#4) in Zagreb and hope to win that game.
