Regular Season Round 8: Un.Olimpija - Igokea 72-70

A very close game took place in Ljubljana between Slovenian Un.Olimpija and Bosnian Igokea. Sixth ranked Un.Olimpija (5-3) got a very close home victory over 13th ranked Igokea (2-6). Un.Olimpija managed to escape with a 2-point win 72-70 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The hosts trailed by 12 points after three quarters before their 24-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was Serbian point guard Marko Marinovic (183-83) who scored 19 points and 5 assists. Forward Blaz Mahkovic (201-90) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Serbian center Dusko Bunic (207-89, agency: Beo Basket) produced 12 points and 7 rebounds and Serbian-Montenegrin forward Nikola Dragovic (206-87, college: UCLA) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Four Igokea players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Un.Olimpija moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Krka. Defending Bosnian champion Igokea dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. They share it with Zadar and MZT Skopje. Un.Olimpija will meet league's second-placed Buducnost in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Igokea will play against MZT Skopje (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
