Regular Season Round 25: MZT Skopje - Tajfun 77-70

Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked FYR Macedonian MZT Skopje (10-15) won against at home bottom-ranked Slovenian Tajfun (7-18) 77-70 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 38-23 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. MZT Skopje made 30-of-39 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game, while Tajfun only scored nine points from the stripe. Strangely Tajfun outrebounded MZT Skopje 47-30 including a 23-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Tajfun was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Serbian Marko Lukovic (207-92, agency: Beo Basket) fired 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Serbian swingman Djordje Drenovac (202-92) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four MZT Skopje players scored in double figures. American guard Ceola Clark III (190-89, college: W.Illinois) produced 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward Jacob Parker (198-93, college: SF Austin) added 14 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending FYR Macedonian champion moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Tajfun lost eleventh consecutive game. Defending Slovenian champion stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. MZT Skopje will face higher ranked Cedevita (#3) in Zagreb in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tajfun will play at home against Igokea (#11) and hope to win that game.
