Regular Season Round 5: Krka - Crvena Zvezda 56-67

There was no surprise in Novo Mesto where 10th ranked Slovenia Krka (1-3) was defeated by leader Serbian Crvena Zvezda (5-0) 67-56 on Monday. The game without a history. Crvena Zvezda led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Krka's 24. Crvena Zvezda looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Stefan Jovic (198-90) who scored 14 points and 7 assists. Marko Guduric (196-95) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Serbian Marko Lukovic (207-92, agency: BeoBasket) produced 24 points and 5 rebounds and guard Sandi Cebular (195-86, agency: Duran International) added 12 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Crvena Zvezda have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending Serbian champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Partizan and Buducnost. Krka lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with three games lost. Crvena Zvezda will face Igokea (#6) in Aleksandrovac in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Krka will play on the road against Cedevita (#5) in Zagreb and hope to win that game.
