Regular Season Round 7: Krka - Zadar 80-79

A very close game took place in Novo Mesto between Slovenian Krka and Croatian KK Zadar. Eighth ranked Krka (3-3) got a very close home victory over 7th ranked KK Zadar (3-4). Krka managed to escape with a 1-point win 80-79 in the fight for the sixth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of KK Zadar. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 27-24. But KK Zadar won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Krka looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Serbian Marko Lukovic (207-92, agency: BeoBasket) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Sandi Cebular (195-86, agency: Duran International) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists. Five Krka players scored in double figures. Serbian-Slovenia power forward Ivan Marinkovic (209-93) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Jakov Vladovic (187-83) added 7 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for lost side. Krka moved-up to sixth place. Loser KK Zadar keeps the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Igokea. Krka will meet Mega Leks (#12) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. KK Zadar will play against Igokea (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
