Regular Season Round 9: Partizan NIS - Olimpija 77-78

Important game to mention about took place in Beograd. Tenth ranked Slovenian Olimpija (4-5) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 4th placed Serbian Partizan (5-4) 78-77 on Saturday evening. Strangely Partizan outrebounded Olimpija 53-32 including a 24-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American Devin Oliver (204-92, college: Dayton) nailed 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and point guard Jan Span (188-92) accounted for 20 points and 5 assists. Power forward Strahinja Gavrilovic (206-93, college: USC) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Nigel Williams-Goss (191-94, college: Gonzaga) added 16 points respectively for Partizan in the defeat. Partizan's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending Slovenian champion moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Mornar Bar and Igokea. Partizan at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with FMP. Olimpija will play against higher ranked FMP (#5) in Beograd in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Partizan will play on the road against the league's leader Buducnost in Podgorica and hopes to get back on the winning track.
