Regular Season Round 9: Zadar - Crvena Zvezda 76-88

Very expected game when 9th ranked Croatian KK Zadar (3-6) was defeated at home by second ranked Serbian Crvena Zvezda (7-2) 88-76 on Monday. Crvena Zvezda made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Crvena Zvezda outrebounded KK Zadar 36-21 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Montenegrin-Serbian power forward Milko Bjelica (207-84, agency: BeoBasket) who scored 20 points. American-Montenegrin point guard Taylor Rochestie (185-85, college: Washington St.) chipped in 14 points. Crvena Zvezda's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Preston Knowles (187-89, college: Louisville) who recorded 17 points and 4 assists and guard Mislav Brzoja (198-94, college: Evansville, agency: Octagon Europe) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Crvena Zvezda. Defending Serbian champion maintains second place with 7-2 record behind leader Buducnost. Loser KK Zadar keeps the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with Cibona and Mega Bemax. Crvena Zvezda will meet at home Igokea (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. KK Zadar will play against Mega Bemax in Sremska Mitrovica and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
