Regular Season Round 7: Krka - Split 87-85

The most exciting game of round 7 in the ABA League took place in Novo Mesto. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Croatian Split (3-4) to third ranked Slovenian Krka (5-2) 87-85 on Thursday evening. Krka outrebounded Split 31-13 including a 18-7 advantage in defensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Split helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for Croatian-Slovenian guard Maj Kovacevic (190-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points. Serbian-Bosnian forward Marko Josilo (200-92) helped adding 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side forward Henrik Sirko (198-93, agency: XL Basketball Agency) responded with 23 points and 4 steals and American point guard Mike Scott (184-93, college: Idaho) scored 14 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Split's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Krka moved-up to second place, which they share with Vrsac. Split at the other side keeps the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Krka is looking forward to face Bosna-Royal (#11) in Sarajevo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Split will play at home against Ohrid AV (#12) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
