Regular Season Round 11: Vrsac - Split 100-69
Date: December 27, 2017
The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Serbian Vrsac as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Krka) loss. Vrsac smashed 7th ranked Croatian Split at home 100-69. They outrebounded Split 38-25 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vrsac players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Split's players. Australian guard Mirko Djeric (193-95) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Forward Djordje Simeunovic (201-95, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Vrsac players scored in double figures. American point guard Mike Scott (184-93, college: Idaho) answered with 18 points and guard Goran Filipovic (180-96) added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for Split. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Vrsac. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 3 other teams. Split at the other side keeps the seventh place with six games lost. They share the position with Teodo Tivat and Dynamic BG. Split will play next round against Zrinjski HT trying to get back on the winning streak. Vrsac will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Bosna-Royal at Sarajevo.
