Regular Season Round 8: FMP - Cedevita 81-95

There was a small surprise in Beograd where seventh ranked Croatian Cedevita (4-4) beat one of their biggest challengers Serbian FMP (4-4) 95-81. Cedevita players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by Bosnian-Croatian center Andrija Stipanovic (208-86, agency: BeoBasket) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and American Elgin Cook (197-93, college: Oregon, agency: BeoBasket) supported him with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Four Cedevita players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) by power forward Dragan Apic (206-95, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for FMP. Marko Jeremic (192-91) added 10 points for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending Croatian champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Partizan NIS and FMP. Cedevita will play against Krka (#9) in Novo Mesto in the next round where they are favorite. FMP will play on the road against P.Olimpija (#12) in Ljubljana and hopes to get back on the winning track.
