Regular Season Round 9: Split - Lovcen 71-78

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Croatian Split (5-4) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Montenegrin Lovcen (5-4) 78-71 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was Milos Popovic (198-98) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Milutin Djukanovic (190-91) chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Mate Kalajzic (187-98, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 10 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and point guard Mauro Veljacic (183-93) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively. Five Lovcen and four Split players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Lovcen. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Split. Lovcen will meet at home bottom-ranked Vrsac (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Split will play against Zrinjski HT (#11) in Mostar and hope to secure a win.
