Regular Season Round 9: P.Olimpija - FMP 88-86

Bottom-ranked Slovenian P.Olimpija managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of five consecutive losses. This time defending Slovenian champion edged sixth-ranked Serbian FMP in Ljubljana 88-86. P.Olimpija made 31-of-38 charity shots (81.6 percent) during the game. FMP was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Miha Lapornik (193-93) who led his team to a victory with 17 points. Swingman Blaz Mesicek (197-97, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 19 points (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Power forward Dragan Apic (206-95, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Slovenian point guard Matic Rebec (183-95) added 16 points and 7 assists in the effort for FMP. Five FMP players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending Slovenian champion (3-6) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. FMP at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Partizan NIS and Igokea. P.Olimpija will play against higher ranked Cedevita (#4) in Zagreb in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. FMP will play at home against Mornar Bar and hopes to get back on the winning track.
