The most exciting game of round 17 in the ABA League took place in Split. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 6th ranked Croatian Split (8-9) to third ranked FYR Macedonian MZT Skopje (12-5) 78-76 on Thursday evening. Croatian Ive Ivanov (200-85, agency: PEPI SPORT) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. American guard James Woodard (191-94, college: Tulsa) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Michael Cobbins (203-92, college: Oklahoma St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks and point guard Mauro Veljacic (183-93) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Split. Four MZT Skopje and five Split players scored in double figures. MZT Skopje have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Spars Sarajevo. Split at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with Lovcen and Borac. MZT Skopje is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Vrsac (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Split will play against Borac (#8) in Cacak and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
