Regular Season Round 10: Split - Helios Suns 90-79

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Slovenian Helios Suns (6-4) were defeated on the road by fifth ranked Croatian Split (5-5) 90-79 on Tuesday. Split dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Helios Suns' 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Helios Suns' players. Guard Toni Perkovic (190-98, agency: XL Basketball Agency) fired 33 points (!!!) and 6 assists (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Pavle Marcinkovic (197-89, agency: XL Basketball Agency) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Four Split players scored in double figures. Forward Blaz Mahkovic (201-90) produced 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and Croatian point guard Kresimir Radovcic (195-97, agency: XL Basketball Agency) added 24 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Split went down to sixth position due to points difference, which they share with Siroki Primorka. Loser Helios Suns dropped to the third place with four games lost. Split will face higher ranked Siroki in Siroki Brijeg in the next round. Helios Suns will play at home against Rogaska and hope to win that game.
