Regular Season Round 16: FMP - Partizan NIS 57-87

One of the most interesting games of round 16 was a derby match between two teams from Serbia. The game took place in Beograd where first ranked Partizan NIS outleveled host FMP (9-7) 87-57. Partizan NIS made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Partizan NIS outrebounded FMP 42-24 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American guard Corey Walden (188-92, college: EKU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import point guard Marcus Paige (183-93, college: UNC) supported him with 11 points and 5 assists. Four Partizan NIS players scored in double figures. Even 14 points by power forward Stefan Djordjevic (203-98) did not help to save the game for FMP. Guard Stefan Pot (195-94) added 9 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Partizan NIS (13-3) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Loser FMP keeps the fifth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Mornar Bar and Primorska. Partizan NIS will meet at home KK Zadar (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. FMP will play against Mornar Bar (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
