Regular Season Round 17: Sutjeska - Borac 80-81

Seventh-ranked Montenegrin Sutjeska (8-9) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Serbian Borac (15-2) in Niksic on Wednesday. The visitors from Cacak managed to secure only one-point victory 81-80. However their fans expected much easier game. Borac made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Borac especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. 26 personal fouls committed by Sutjeska helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Radovan Djokovic (193-96, agency: BeoBasket) saved the victory by scoring 18 points and 5 assists. American point guard Bryce Jones (183-94, college: Murray St.) contributed with 19 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Borac's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Nikola Pavlicevic (192-88) answered with 32 points and 4 steals and power forward Milos Vujovic (206-96) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Sutjeska. Borac have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-2 record. Sutjeska lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with Lovcen and Helios Suns. Borac are looking forward to face Split (#5) at home in the next round. Sutjeska will play against Rogaska in Rogaska Slatina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
