Regular Season Round 18: MZT Skopje - Helios Suns 85-89

Very important is a home loss of second ranked North Macedonian MZT Skopje (12-6) against sixth ranked Slovenian Helios Suns (9-9) on Thursday night. Host MZT Skopje was defeated by Helios Suns in a tough game in Skopje 85-89. Helios Suns made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. MZT Skopje was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Blaz Mahkovic (201-90) notched 29 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Croatian swingman Davor Konjevic (198-90, agency: PEPI SPORT) supported him with 24 points. Even 18 points and 6 assists by American point guard Jabarie Hinds (180-92, college: UMass, agency: Two Points) did not help to save the game for MZT Skopje. Damjan Stojanovski (198-87) added 17 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Helios Suns moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Split and Sutjeska. Defending North Macedonian champion MZT Skopje keeps the second position with six games lost. Helios Suns will play against league's leader Borac in Cacak in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. MZT Skopje will play on the road against Siroki in Siroki Brijeg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
