Regular Season Round 19: Cibona - Split 84-65

The most interesting game of round 19 was a derby match between two teams from Croatia. The game took place in Zagreb where tenth ranked Cibona outleveled visiting Split (3-15) 84-65. Bosnian swingman Amar Gegic (200-98, agency: Octagon Europe) fired 24 points and 4 assists for the winners. Center Danko Brankovic (215-0, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Swingman Lovre Runjic (197-0) produced 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Split's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Cibona (7-10) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Mornar and SC Derby. Split at the other side stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Cibona is looking forward to face Krka (#13) in Novo Mesto in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Split will play at home against Cedevita Ol. and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
