Regular Season Round 24: Buducnost - Mornar 99-78
Date: April 3, 2023
One of the most interesting games of round 24 was a derby match between two teams from Montenegro. The game took place in Podgorica where third ranked Buducnost outleveled visiting Mornar (7-15) 99-78. Buducnost dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Mornar's 40. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. The winners were led by French-Guinean center Alpha Kaba (208-1996) who scored that evening 16 points and 6 rebounds and Bosnian center Kenan Kamenjas (207-2000) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Even a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds by Serbian power forward Marko Pecarski (208-2000) did not help to save the game for Mornar. Croatian center Antonio Vrankovic (213-1996, college: Duke) added 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Buducnost (17-6) have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending Montenegrin champion maintains third position having four points less than leader Partizan. Mornar at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 15 games lost. Buducnost will play against Mega BG (#6) in Beograd in the next round. Mornar will play at home against Cedevita Ol. (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
