Spain outgunned Puerto Rico in the first day of action in Udine. Umo Diallo posted 12 points and 9 rebounds to lead the winners. Spain had to overcome a slow start. They trailed by four points after ten minutes. But Spain went on a 62:26 run in the next three quarters to seal the win. Iris Junio had 9 points for Spain. Angelique Rodriguez answered with 19 points for Puerto Rico.
