Canada are crowned champions in Cairo. They prevailed against Italy in the Final. Rowan Barrett Jr. (201-SF-00) posted 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the winners. Canada grabbed a 24:10 lead ten minutes into the game. The North American side dropped 27 points in the second term to ensure a 15-point halftime lead. Canada held the Azzurri to just 24 points in the second half and marched to the triumph. Abu Kigab (201-F/G-98) and Nathan Darling (196-G-98) provided 12 points each for the winners. David Okeke (202-F/C-98, agency: Interperformances) responded with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Italy. Germany ended up in the fifth position at the championship. They held off Lithuania tonight. Oscar Da Silva (207-PF-98) registered 18 points in the victory. Lithuania piled up a 39:28 halftime advantage. But Germany turned the tables in the second half. They unloaded 52 points and got away with a narrow win. Argentina eked out a 34:32 halftime lead. The Latin American side boosted the margin at 4-point mark heading into the fourth term. But France used a 22:12 run in the final term to snatch victory. Enzo Goudou-Sinha (184-PG-98) accounted for 15 points for les Bleues. Facundo Corvalan (188-G-98) responded with 16 points and 6 assists for Argentina.

9-10 Place
Puerto Rico - Japan 68-67
Puerto Rico held off Japan to claim the 9th position. Jorge Pacheco-Ortiz (185-G-98) stepped up with 19 points to lead the charge. Japan stole a 33:29 halftime lead. Puerto Rico though dropped 22 points in the third term to surge ahead. Japan and Puerto Rico went neck and neck throughout the fourth term but the latter ones managed to pull away with a tough win. 11-12 Place
New Zealand - Egypt 85-69
New Zealand finished their campaign on a high note. They edged hosting Egypt to occupy the 11th overall position. Tai Wynyard (208-C/F-98) produced 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Kiwis. New Zealand got to a strong start. They ensured a 22:8 lead after ten minutes. Egypt pulled within 4 points at the final break. But New Zealand unleashed 30 points in the fourth term to seal the victory. Taane Samuel (200-F-99) knocked down 17 points in the win. Mohamed Youssef (182-PG-99) responded with 22 points for Egypt.

13-14 Place
Angola - South Korea 58-56
Angola eked out a narrow win over South Korea to finish 13th at the championship. Silvio de Souza came up with 27 points and 21 boards to lead the winners. South Korea grabbed an 18:11 lead after ten minutes. Angola however denied the deficit to eke out a 28:27 halftime lead. South Korea drained 19 points in the third term to regain the advantage. However the seesaw action continued in the final term. Angola limited the Asian side to just 10 points to snatch win. Childe Dundao (167-G-98) tossed in 12 points in the victory. Jea-Min Yang responded with 17 points and 15 rebounds for South Korea.

15-16 Place
Mali - Iran 61-70
Iran finally enjoyed the win in Cairo. They beat Mali to clinch the 15th overall position at the championship. Ehsan Samadi (192-G/F-98) stepped up with 21 points for the Asian side. Iran grabbed a 40:27 halftime lead. They extended the margin at 15-point mark at the final intermission and never looked back en route to the win. Amirhossein Azari (192-SF-98) netted 15 points for the winners. Blaise Keita (210-C-99) responded with 15 points and 13 rebounds for Mali.


Canada and Italy to clash for title in Cairo - Jul 8, 2017

SEMIFINALS
Spain - Italy 63-66
Italy snatched a narrow win over Spain to reach the championship game in Cairo. Lorenzo Bucarelli (196-G/F-98) stepped up with 15 points to pace the Azzurri. Spain dominated in the opening quarter. They built a 22:9 lead after ten minutes. But Italy used a 20:8 rally in the second stanza to pull within one point. Spain and Italy exchanged baskets throughout the third term. Spain enjoyed a narrow lead heading into the final stanza but Italy ignited a 21:17 run to eke out a vital win. Davide Denegri (183-SG-98, agency: Two Points) tossed in 14 points in the victory. Argentina survived a tough test against Egypt and made their way into the quarterfinal stage. Facundo Corvalan (188-G-98) tallied 19 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds in the victory. Egypt got to a strong start to take a 24:13 lead after ten minutes. But Argentina slowly came into groove. The Latin American side erased the deficit and eked out a one-point lead heading into the fourth frame. Argentina limited Egypt to just 13 points in the final stanza and raced into the victory. Italy overcame Iran to secure the second consecutive victory in Cairo. Tommaso Oxilia (198-F-98, agency: Players Group) tallied 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Azzurri. Italy secured a 30:22 halftime lead. They extended the margin at 15-point mark at the final intermission and never looked back en route to the win. David Okeke (202-F/C-98, agency: Interperformances) posted 15 points in the victory. Amirhossein Azari (192-SF-98) answered with 13 points for Iran.

USA - Angola 109-68
USA had little trouble posting the second straight win in Cairo. They marched past Angola to remain undefeated. Seven players scored in double digits for the winners.
