Preliminary Round Day 3: EGYPT - SERBIA 67-85

Serbia dominated the game against Egypt and recorded a well-deserved win at the U19 World Championship in Latvia. The victory propelled Serbia to 2-1 record in Group D. They clinched the second position in the ladder. Egypt slipped at 1-2 record. Aleksandar Cvetkovic fired 24 points to lead the charge. Egypt led for a brief period of time early in the encounter. But Serbia quickly erased the deficit and registered a 25:15 advantage late in the opening frame. Serbia boosted the lead to as many as 16 points in the second stanza. They kept Egypt at bay posting a 45:35 halftime lead. Assem Ahmed and Seif Samir dragged Egypt within five points at the start of the third term. Marawan Mohamed narrowed the gap to only three points but Serbia finished the quarter strongly restoring a comfortable 64:53 lead with one quarter remaining. Egypt never got closer than 9 points in the final period as Serbia coasted to the victory at the end. Marko Gujanicic accounted for 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Petar Lambic netted 12 points in the victory. Assem Ahmed responded with 20 points and 11 rebounds for Egypt. Omar Mohammed nailed 14 points in the loss.
