1/8 Finals Day 1: ARGENTINA - POLAND 71-73

Polish team opened U19 World Championship Eighth-Final round with victory. They overcame Argentinean counterparts to improve at 3-1 record in Group E. Argentina slipped at 2-2 record after the loss. It all looked good for Poland. They opened the game on a 9:2 run. Poland maintained the lead throughout the starting period posting a 20:11 advantage at the break. Mateusz Ponitka and Michal Michalak boosted the gap to 14 points late in the half. Paredes and Giorgetti helped Argentina to come back into the contest. The Latin American team got within three points midway through the third fame. Poland were able to secure a 50:46 lead with one quarter remaining. The Polish team increased the margin to 9-point mark midway through the fourth term 58:49. But Argentina bounced back as the barrage of three-pointers erased the deficit. Carlos Paredes pulled in front 71:70 with 37 seconds to go. Mateusz Ponitka answered with three free throws to give Poland a 73:71 lead. Carlos Paredes had a chance to save the game for Argentina but missed a buzzer-beater. Mateusz Ponitka accounted for 20 points to lead Poland. Michal Michalak added 16 points in the winning effort. Carlos Paredes replied with 17 points for Argentina. Luciano Massarelli and Pablo Perez banked 12 points apiece in the loss.
