Australia accounted for the opening win at the U19 World Championship. The Emus fired past Senegal in Group C opener. Felix Von Hofe nailed 16 points to lead the winners. Australia set the tone early in the encounter. The Emus went on a stunning 26:11 run in the first period. The Australian team maintained the tempo throughout the second period. The Emus piled up a 48:27 halftime lead. Senegal struggled offensively throughout the third period. Australia eased to a massive 36-poitn lead heading into the fourth quarter. Australia held Senegalese opponents at 11 points in the final stanza and sealed the win at the end. Dane Pineau delivered 12 points, while Nicholas Duncan added 11 points and 9 rebounds for the Emus. Pape Diatta responded with 24 points for Senegal. Khalifa Ndiaye had 7 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
