Serbia accounted for the starting win at the U19 World Championship. They prevailed against Brazil in the opening game in Group C. Nikola Milutinov notched 15 points to lead the winners. Serbia opened the game with a stifling defence. They went on a 12:2 run to tip off the clash. Serbia secured a 14:7 lead after ten minutes. Serbia stayed aggressive defensively in the second quarter. The European side accumulated a 32:17 halftime lead. Brazil could not find their rhythm in the third term. Serbia capitalized piling up a 17-point cushion before the fourth quarter. Brazil unloaded 20 points in the final stanza but it was too late to rescue the game. Nikola Jankovic netted 12 points, while Stefan Pot came up with 9 points, 13 boards and 5 assists for Serbia. Lucas Dias Silva responded with 19 points for Brazil. Daniel Bordignon had 11 points in the loss.
