South Korea claimed the first win at the U19 World Championship. The Korean team snatched a narrow overtime victory over hosting Czech Republic in the classification round. Heo Hoon notched 32 points to lead the winners. Czech Republic secured a 22:18 lead after ten minutes of action. The hosts stretched the lead in the second frame. The Czech team accounted for a 52:36 halftime advantage. But the Asian team turned things around in the second half. They dropped 30 points in the third term to narrow the margin at 6-point mark. Heo Hoon fired a late three-pointer to level the score at 87 at the end of regulation. Heo Hoon nailed four points in the extra period and helped the Korean team seal the victory at the end. Seongmo Choi produced 25 points and 8 rebounds, while Choi Jun-Yong added 11 points for the winners. Martin Peterka answered with 24 points and 21 rebounds for Czech Republic. Petr Safarcik tossed in 18 points in the loss.
