Brazil fell at 1-4 record after the loss. Stanislav Ilnitskiy came up with 29 points to lead the winners. Russia opened the game with determination. They posted a 20:18 lead after ten minutes. Russia boosted the gap to 4 points at halftime 42:38. Brazil stepped on the gas in the third term. The Latin American team fired 25 points in the next period to erase the deficit. The teams entered the fourth frame tied at 63. The lead changed hands throughout the final period. Brazil led by two points but Mikhail Kulagin sank a jumper inside the final minute to force overtime. Russia limited Brazil to just 3 points in the extra period and celebrated victory at the end. Mikhail Kulagin netted 21 points, while Igor Kanygin added 14 pints for the winners. Leonardo Demetrio and Daniel Bordignon accounted for 18 points apiece for Brazil. The latter one adding also 11 rebounds.
