Finals Game 1: SPAIN - CANADA 72-68

Spain earned the fifth place at the U19 World Championship. They ended their campaign with a narrow win over Canada today. Juan Saiz stepped up with 18 points and 11 rebounds for the European team. Spain ran to a 14:8 lead after ten minutes of action. The tempo increased in the second frame. Spain accounted for a 39:26 halftime lead. Spain maintained the lead throughout the third term. The European team arrived at the final break up by 14 points. Canada went on a strong rally in the fourth frame to cut the deficit at 5-point mark with under four minutes to go. But Guillermo Hernangomez converted a three-point play to keep Spain comfortably in front. Canada got within three points but Edgar Vicedo (and Brizuela sank three free throws in the dying seconds to seal the victory for Spain. Guillermo Hernangomez chipped in 15 points, while Edgar Vicedo added 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Trey Lyles answered with 25 points and 17 rebounds for Canada. Xavier Rathan-Mayes chipped in 12 points in the loss.
