Mali clinched the fifth position as they rallied past Japan in Spain tonight. The African team got to a strong start. They built a 37-22 halftime advantage. Japan pulled within 5 points at the final intermission but Mali sank 22 points in the fourth quarter and marched to the win. Maimouna Haidara tallied 18 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Haru Owaki answered with 15 points for Japan.
