Cadets !
With a terrific third quarter (30-16), the Serbians confirmed their superiority
over all the other countries and beat Turkey in the Final by 68-83.
Milenko Tepic (197-F-87), with 31 points and 9 rebounds, and
Dragan Labovic, with 27, where the heros for the champion team. Meanwhile,
the Russian NT got the Bronze medal after rolling over Spain by 90-72.

and Montenegro win Cadet EC 2003
The Under 17 National Team from Serbia and Montenegro dominated the 2003
edition of the Cadet EuroChampionship, proving once again that this
country is the best in Europe in producing basketball talents. This team
ended unbeaten the tournment, with a 8-0 record, and an average
winning margin of almost 24 points per game. In final Game,
Serbia-Montenegro defeated Turkey 83-68, and the best in the winning
team have been
Milenko Tepic (197-F-87), who scored 31 points and grabbed 9 rebs,
and
Dragan Labovic, who added 27 pts. The best losing effort came from
Turkish Mehmet Yagmur, who scored 20 points. The third place went to
Russia, winner over host team Spain 92-70 in the "Little Final".
The unanimous tournment MVP has been named
Nemanja Aleksandrov (209-F/C-87), a forward-center who has a great
future at the 3 position thanks to his unbelievable 3 pts shooting
accuracy (62% in the tournment) and his great ball handling and court
vision. Some observers said he reminds a lot Dirk Nowitzki.
Turkey
vs. Serbia in the finals
Serbia and Turkey will face each other in the Finals of the European
Championship for Cadets. Serbia has a very easy way to the Finals after
defeating Russia by 26 points in the Semi Finals, 89-63. Just like in
the Juniors WC the hosting team lost by a very small margin in the Semi
Finals and will play for the Bronze medal. Turkey, without Ersan
Ilyasova, beat the hosting team of Spain 76-74 and will try to capture
the gold vs. Serbia. Both Turkey and Serbia didn't lose a single game so
far in the Championship. France and Slovenia will fight for the 5th
place, Greece will play vs. FYROM for the 7th place. Semi FinalsTurkey 76 - Spain 74
Turkey, still without their best player, and by far one of the
best in the championship - Ersan Ilyasova that got injured during the
games, managed to beat Spain thanks to a great finish in the last
quarter.
