Mfiondu Kabengele claims ABA League weekly honour

Canadian Mfiondu Kabengele (208-C-1997) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader BC Dubai and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 29-year old center had a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Zadar (#1, 2-3) 89-75. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Dubai to jump to the first place in the ABA League. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Dubai already had a very good start winning all 5 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Kabengele had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Dubai and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Florida State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Kabengele is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 7.3rpg) and averages solid 77.8% FGP and 50.0% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Dubai's star - young Georgian power forward Tornike Shengelia (206-PF-1991, agency: Octagon Europe). Shengelia impressed basketball fans with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course together with Kabengele he helped BC Dubai with another comfortable win 89-75 over slightly higher-ranked Zadar (#1, 2-3) being unquestionably team leader. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Dubai consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. A very good start of the season for his team, which won so far all 5 games without any defeat. Shengelia is a newcomer at Dubai and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Montenegrin Igor Drobnjak (188-PG-2000) of top-ranked KK Spartak Office Shoes Subotica. Drobnjak scored 19 points and passed 9 assists. He was a key player of Spartak, leading his team to a 109-104 win against #1 ranked Mega BG. Spartak confirms their top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 2 lost games. Drobnjak has a very solid season. In 5 games in ABA League he scored 13.0ppg.
