Romanian CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu defeated Bulgarian Lukoil Acad. at home 72-67 in overtime. The hosts were tied after three quarters and then recorded another tie at the end of regular time. They eventually won an overtime period 9-4. CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu outrebounded Lukoil Acad. 43-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American-Dominican power forward Larry Turner (210-82, college: Tennessee St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Czech swingman Michal Kremen (200-81) accounted for 7 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Four CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu players scored in double figures. Croatian center Bruno Sundov (221-80) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and American point guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) added 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Lukoil Acad. in the defeat. Lukoil Acad. will play next round against strong Kormend. CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu will try to continue on its current victory against TU/Rock at Tartu.
