The Turkish favorites overcame the French side 91:86. Besiktas Milangaz started better and dominated the first period. The Turkish team produced a 27-15 surge in the first 10 minutes. The French outfit meanwhile woke up in the second period and bounced back with 25-17 to reduce to 4 points at the halftime. Chalon continued to come closer in the third period and tied the game at 48:48. The intrigue continued in the last stanza and it was extremely hot in the court. Zoran Erceg (210-C/F-85) and Hawkins made it 66:59 with 7 minutes to go, while Ilian Evtimov (201-F-83, agency: Interperformances, college: N.Carolina St.) nailed three for minus 4. Hawkins and Pops Mensah-Bonsu (206-F-83, agency: SportsTalent, college: G.Washington) gave Besiktas Milangaz 71:64 with less than 6 minutes to go, but Steed Tchicamboud (193-G-81) cut it to 71:66 midway through the quarter. Zoran Erceg however answered for all the questions in the game as he nailed three for 74:66 lead. Pops Mensah-Bonsu and Carlos Arroyo (188-G-79, college: FIU) brought 79:66 on the board as the Turkish team started to celebrate with 3 minutes to go. Aminu however scored four in a row for 79:70 and Carlos Arroyo nailed three for 82:70. Aminu and Delaney scored five in a row for 82:75 and asked the Head Coach of Besiktas for Timeout. Pops Mensah-Bonsu and Steed Tchicamboud exchanged the shots for 84:78, while Carlos Arroyo and Blake Schilb (200-F/G-83, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices, college: Loyola, IL) made the same for 86:81 with less than a minute to play. Carlos Arroyo, Delaney, Zoran Erceg and Aminu made the last shots for their teams as the board showed 91:86 on the board. Pops Mensah-Bonsu erupted with 26 points and 20 rebounds for the winners, while Zoran Erceg followed him with massive 25 points and 15 boards. Carlos Arroyo notched 15 and Hawkins added 13. Steed Tchicamboud ended up with 19 points in the losing effort and Aminu posted 13. Blake Schilb and Ilian Evtimov followed them with 12 points each. 3rd Place: Szolnok - Triumph 87-94 Davon Jefferson (204-F-86, college: USC) brings Triumph EuroChallenge Bronze as the Russian team won the game for the third place. Triumph edged the hosts 94:87 as three players scored more than 20 points for the winners. Szolnoki Olaj started better and Obie Trotter (186-PG-84, agency: Court Side, college: Alabama A&M) gave them 7:2 in the opening tip. Fodor later scored for 27:21 and Gay opened the second frame for 8-point deficit. Davon Jefferson however tied the game at 33:33 and Sergey Karasev (201-F-93) brought the Russian team 43:39 advantage. The Hungarian team took the lead back in the third period when Obie Trotter scored for 62:60. Mills and Bader closed the third quarter at 66:61, but the victory went away from the hosts. It was Davon Jefferson and Co to produce a massive last period to take the third place in 2011/2012 season. Sergey Karasev made four free throws at the end and Davon Jefferson closed the game at 94:87. Davon Jefferson erupted with 37 points and 10 rebounds. Sergey Karasev notched 25, while Landry posted 20. Obie Trotter exploded with 33 points for the home side and Mills collected 19 points and 12 rebounds. Gay nailed 11, while Bader had 9 points and 10 rebounds. Final Four: Besiktas and Chalon enter the title game - Apr 27, 2012 Szolnok - Besiktas 60-64 Besiktas outclass Szolnoki Olaj in Debrecen in the first Semifinal game of EuroChallenge. The Turkish team won 64:60 and advanced to the Final. Szolnoki Olaj started better and thanks to 3500 fans took 17:13 after the first 10 minutes. Gay scored for 17:13 and Marton Bader (212-C-80, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) posted two for 24:20 early in the second. Ersin Dagli (203-F/C-81, agency: Interperformances, college: Alabama) however replied with 4 consecutive points to bring the lead at 29:26 and then Pops Mensah-Bonsu (206-F-83, agency: SportsTalent, college: G.Washington) closed the half at 33:30. No matter how hard the hosts tried to take the lead in the third quarter they could not. Besiktas Milangaz finished the third frame with 6-0 run to enjoy 47:40 after thirty minutes. Only at the end of the game Mills tied the score at 56:56. He made it also 60:62, but then Arroyo scored two free throws for the final success. Erceg top-scored for the winners with 17 points and Hawkins as well as Pops Mensah-Bonsu posted 13 points each. Ersin Dagli followed them with 8 points and 13 rebounds. Nikolov replied with 13 points in the losing effort, while Marton Bader collected 11 points and 14 boards. Horvath notched 10 and Mills added 9. Chalon - Triumph 84-69 Chalon advanced to the Final of the EuroChallenge. The French side beat Russian Triumph 84:69 in Debrecen. The game was mostly controlled by Chalon/Saor. Triumph Lyubertsy was better in third quarter 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Chalon/Saor especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. Blake Schilb (200-F/G-83, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices, college: Loyola, IL) stepped up and scored 29 points and 5 rebounds, while Alade Aminu (207-C/F-87, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds. Lauvergne collected 12 points and 8 rebounds and Delaney added 9. At the losing side Davon Jefferson (204-F-86, college: USC) responded with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Kyle Landry (207-C/F-86, college: N.Arizona) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds.
