Regular Season Round 5: Gussing - Atomeromu 93-84 OT

Hungarian Atomeromu (#3) forced overtime, but falled to Austrian Gussing Knights (#2) by nine points 84-93 on Wednesday night. Gussing advanced into Last 16 stage with this tough win. Atomeromu trailed by 14 points at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 28-10 last quarter charge cut the deficit to tie the game 76-76 at the end of regular time. But then they lost overtime period 8-17. Gussing Knights made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Bulgarian forward Aleksandar Georgiev (203-90, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Travis Taylor (203-90, college: Xavier) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Gussing Knights' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Serbian-Hungarian Luka Markovic (196-93) answered with 24 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Henry Dugat (183-87, college: Baylor) added 19 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Atomeromu. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending Austrian champion maintains second place in Group F with 4-1 record. Loser Atomeromu keeps the third position with four games lost. Gussing Knights will play versus group's leader Trabzonspor at home in the next round. Atomeromu will play against U-Banca TR and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
