Semi-Finals Game 1: Pesaro - Krasnie Krilya 70-73

Krasnye Krylia became the first EuroChallenge finalists. They held off Scavolini Spar Pesaro in the intense semifinal clash in Goettingen tonight. Ernest Bremer delivered 18 points, 5 boards and 4 assists to pace the Russian outfit. The teams traded baskets in the opening moments. The lead changed hands for several times before Ralph Biggs capped the period with a three-pointer giving Krasnye Krylia a 19:16 lead. Ralph Biggs opened the second term with another long bomb, while Luis Flores added two from the stripe to ensure a 24:16 lead for Krasnye Krylia. However Scavolini responded with a 6:0 run to narrow the deficit. Three-pointers from Ralph Biggs and Vasylius kept the Russian team in charge. Not before Eric Williams and Flamini drew things level at 34 at the interval. Krasnye Krylia surged ahead at the start of the second half but Scavolini stayed close. Branko Cvetkovic finally put the Italian team ahead midway through the third frame but not for long though. Krasnye Krylia denied the deficit and Marcus Douthit gave the Russian team a 52:51 advantage with one quarter remaining. Krasnye Krylia went on a 7:2 run to open the fourth period. Ernest Bremer then followed with five points to secure a 64:57 advantage for the Russian side. Luis Flores made it 67:57 with under four minutes remaining in regulation. Scavolini never surrendered as they pulled within four with under two minutes to go. Branko Cvetkovic revived the intrigue as he helped Scavolini narrow the margin at just one point 70:71 with 30 seconds on the clock. Luis Flores got fouled and executed both of his free throw attempts. Branko Cvetkovic had a chance to force overtime but his three-pointer was blocked giving the victory to Krasnye Krylia. Luis Flores scored 15 points for the winners. Marcus Douthit had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Krasnye Krylia. Branko Cvetkovic answered with 20 points for Scavolini. Michael Hicks delivered 16 points in the loss.
